Jam Tomorrow (Published September 2006)
We normally advertise what we do for a client.
In this case we are advertising what a client is now doing, mostly without us.
Many of you will be interested, particularly if you have older teenagers in your families.
The client was Nick Moger; we funded his imported pre-sold cars. Nick is an accountant with software and marketing skills.
It is with his software we can now offer trade finance to our clients for their web-based online credit card sales to the public.
Combining his skills Nick created the Marmalade Car Club, principally web-based, to provide a wide range of motoring services.
Marmalade provides motoring benefits for club members, crucially cars at very low prices.
We bought one and saved £4,500 (12%) on the best alternative price we could find.
The price for any make/model/spec of car can be checked on the web. Over 20% can be saved on some models.
The website can be customised for any "club" - a business, a football club, a trade union, or the friends of Fairfax Gerrard.
So we launched www.fairfaxgerrardcarclub.co.uk last Christmas instead of giving away 2006 diaries.
"We bought one and saved £4,500 (12%) on the best alternative price we could find"
Check out that website for cheap cars (new and nearly new), low finance costs, tyres, chauffeurs if you lose your licence, breakdown cover, and the rest.
If you want to join please send us an e-mail and we will send you free membership - but now read on.
Perhaps you drive a BMW, your partner a Volvo, and your daughter a 10-year old banger because it is so expensive to insure young drivers.
Statistically, young drivers have three times the accidents per mile compared to their parents.
May I suggest you drive the banger and put your daughter in the safer BMW?
What Marmalade does for drivers aged 17-25 is offer a package of:
- a new (or nearly new) safe small car with ABS, airbags and all the trimmings;
- driving lessons (optional);
- "Pass Plus", post test driving safety lessons and certificate;
- comprehensive insurance, even for learner drivers and irrespective of address, which starts to build the driver's own no-claim bonus; and
- all for a deposit and a monthly cost that is often less than a 17-year old would pay for third party insurance alone, if they could get it at all.
How does Marmalade do it? Innovative thinking.
The explanation would need a longer article, but with the emphasis on safety there are fewer accidents and injuries.

What's the catch? Girls are cheaper than boys! That's new?
So, to summarise: young Marmalade today - traffic jam tomorrow!
